The Canadian Care & Share Association, initially founded as the Care & Share Group by Parmod Chhabra in March 2020, emerged in response to the sudden onset of the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent lockdowns. Recognizing the immediate needs of community members, the group aimed to provide essential services such as food, supplies, and activities, while also checking in on the elderly and vulnerable neighbors. This grassroots effort quickly organized to ensure that everyone in the community had access to necessities such as food, housing, and healthcare during a time of unprecedented social distancing and self-isolation. By June 2020, as the situation evolved, so did the organization’s focus. The group expanded its mission to include providing accurate COVID-19 education and awareness to the public. Partnering with organizations such as the India Canada Association, Vedic Sanskruti, Durga Mandir – Ottawa, Indo Canadian Community Centre (ICCC), and Overseas Friends of India in Canada (OFIC), Care & Share Ottawa enhanced its support for the Ottawa community during the pandemic
