Canadian Care & Share Association (CCSA)
Serving with Compassion. Growing Through Community.
Our Journey
- Our Beginning- From Crisis to Community
In March 2020, at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, Parmod Chhabra saw a deep need within the community—seniors were isolated, low-income families were struggling to get basic supplies, and many had no access to reliable information or support.
In response, Parmod formed the Care & Share Group, an informal network of volunteers focused on delivering groceries, medicines, and warm check-in calls to vulnerable residents across Ottawa.
As lockdowns persisted, the group’s impact grew quickly. Volunteers mobilized to:
Distribute food and hygiene kits to families in need
Offer transportation and wellness check-ins for seniors
Assist newcomers and international students stranded without support
Share accurate public health information to counter COVID-19 misinformation
Collaborate with local organizations to reach wider communities
The group’s reach expanded beyond immediate relief. Partnerships were built with respected organizations like the India Canada Association, Durga Mandir, Vedic Sanskruti, Indo-Canadian Community Centre (ICCC), and Overseas Friends of India in Canada (OFIC), helping bring multicultural communities together in a time of isolation.
By mid-2021, the need for a more structured, long-term approach became clear. Care & Share continued to host successful community events, food drives, and volunteer initiatives. The team supported more than 900 families and began developing programs for youth employment, housing support, mental health awareness, and newcomer integration.
- Our Evolution: From Group to Registered Association
Recognizing the growing demand and positive community response, the team took the next step. On December 4, 2023, the organization was officially incorporated under the Canada Not-for-profit Corporations Act as the:
Canadian Care & Share Association
Corporation Number: 15578281
Business Number: 710892415RC0001
Website: care-share.ca
Today, CCSA is supported by over 4500 members, a strong volunteer base, and multiple government and community partners. From emergency response to long-term programs that uplift and empower, our journey continues with the same principle that inspired it all:
“When we care, we share.”
OUR MISSION & PURPOSE

At the Canadian Care & Share Association (CCSA), our mission is to enhance the quality of life and nurture meaningful community connections through compassionate support, inclusive programming, and collaborative partnerships.
We focus especially on empowering youth and uplifting seniors, recognizing their vital roles in shaping resilient, thriving communities. By offering intergenerational programs, mentorship opportunities, wellness initiatives, and culturally sensitive outreach, we aim to reduce isolation, build confidence, and ensure that every individual—regardless of age or background—feels seen, valued, and supported.
Whether it’s helping a newcomer family settle in, guiding a young person toward their first job, or creating safe and joyful spaces for seniors to connect, our work is driven by the belief that strong communities grow when we care, support, and share—together.
The purpose of the Canadian Care & Share Association (CCSA) is to build a caring, inclusive, and resilient community by supporting individuals and families—especially seniors, youth, and newcomers—through programs that promote well-being, dignity, and connection.
We exist to:
- Bridge gaps in access to essential resources such as food, housing, health services, and employment.
- Create opportunities for youth to grow, lead, and succeed through mentorship, skill-building, and civic engagement.
- Support seniors in leading active, connected, and fulfilling lives.
- Foster belonging by bringing diverse communities together through cultural, recreational, and educational programs.
- Empower people to overcome challenges and thrive with compassion, confidence, and community support.
Driven by grassroots passion and a commitment to service, our purpose is grounded in a simple belief:
When we care and share, we strengthen the fabric of our community.
